Cascadia Consulting Group, Inc. (Cascadia) is soliciting proposals from firms to provide waste characterization services in New York City for New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY). Cascadia is part of a team conducting a city-wide characterization of the refuse; metals, glass and plastic (MGP); paper; and organics waste streams.
The selected contractor(s) will be expected to provide teams of waste samplers that can commit to at least three consecutive weeks onsite in New York City, where they will collect samples during overnight shifts. The teams collect samples on 12-hour overnight shifts, six nights per week (Monday through Saturday). Staff available for longer than three weeks are preferred, only highly skilled staff with prior DSNY sampling experience will be considered for periods of less than three weeks. Selected teams must be available during two sorting seasons in 2023: from March 23-May 19 and from July 6-September 1.
